Community read-in: The Gaza Monologues
Join the Paprika community in a reading of The Gaza Monologues created by ASHTAR Theatre in Palestine. Volunteers will take turns reading monologues written by youth from Gaza, telling personal stories about war and siege. This is a gathering space to highlight the voices of Palestinian youth, and to collectively process and mourn the relentless attacks upon Palestinians since October 2023. You are invited to join and listen, or respond through drawing and art. Craft supplies will be available. Cash donations for ASHTAR Theatre will be collected at the door.
CONTENT AND SENSORY ADVISORIES: This play deals with the complex aftermath of war and includes scenes that some may find distressing — including graphic description of the effects of violence on bodies, as well as the psychological impact of living through conflict
RUN TIME: 120 minutes
