Come join us for an Indigenous Arts Showcase that will shut the house down as we mark an end to Paprika’s in-person Festival programming!

Cheri Maracle

Cheri Maracle

Cheri Maracle is an Actress, a Singer/Songwriter, and playwright of the Six Nations of the Grand River lands. Cheri has numerous Stage, tv and film credits to her name. Selected theatre credits include: The UNNATURAL AND ACCIDENTAL WOMEN (The National Arts Centre), The Rez Sisters (Belfry Theatre), Ernestine Shuswap Gets Her Trout (WCTC), The Road to Paradise (Crow’s Theatre), and Munschtime! (Young Peoples Theatre), to name a few. Some selected tv/Film credits include: UNSETTLED (APTN,TVO), The
Coroner (CBC), The Parker Andersons (Marble Media), Tribal (APTN), DeGrassi (Netflix, Epitome), and Murdoch Mysteries (CBC). Cheri was nominated for a Best Supporting actress at the CSA’s for her role of Sara Bull, in the series Blackstone (APTN) 2012-2015. Upcoming Cheri debuts her Children’s show The Friendship Star, at the WEE Festival, and returns to the National Arts Centre to perform in musical Kisaageetin, a tribute to Tomson Highway cabaret, July 2022.

Jude Levy

Jude Levy

My name is Jude Levy (levy pronounced like Levi jeans) and my pronouns are he/him. I am a Miqmak artist from New Brunswick… the east coast will always be home to me. I am currently entering my 4th year of study in Sheridan’s music theatre program. I am passionate about telling stories that NEED to be heard and my 3 cats! 

Janelle Niles

Janelle Niles

Janelle Niles is a Black – Mi’kmaq woman from Sipekne’katik, Nova Scotia. She launched her comedy career in January 2019 in Ottawa, ON. Exploding in the nation’s capital with her indigenous comedy show Got Land?, Janelle aims to communicate solidarity through humour and laughter. Her dream is to perform for Just For Laughs in Montreal and one day tour Turtle Island. You can catch her on CBC Gem’s New Wave Of Stand-up Season 2, she has also performed with the Arctic Comedy Festival in Iqaluit, Nunavut alongside her peers. Janelle’s humour is described as eccentric and captivating

D’Scribe The Poet

D’Scribe the Poet

D’Scribe is a spoken word artist and workshop facilitator from the Niagara Region. They are a national champion slam poet, Indigiqueer and proud to be here with y’all. 

Mara Turenne

Mara Turenne

Mara Turenne (she/her) is a Métis dancer/performer. She is originally from Treaty 1, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is now on Treaty 14 territory studying Music Theatre Performance at Sheridan College. Mara started dancing at the age of 6 and fell in love with movement as a form of storytelling. She has performed at competitions and festivals across North America including Artists Emerge (Edmonton), Release Dance Competition (Vancouver), and World Of Dance (Orange County, California). Representation in dance is important to Mara. She wants to inspire the younger generation to be proud of who they are! Mara loves to share her artistic passion and feels dance is a way into the heart, like no other!
